Morgan City, Louisiana Town Gathering - Saturday, April 25th 1000 AM until 1200 Noon.
Despite how the media has portrayed the April 15th gatherings, the success of the Morgan City Tea Party has created inspiration amongst local citizens to propose monthly two hour "Town Square Gatherings
These gatherings will offer opportunity for all area citizens to come together in voicing opinions on current events - should they be on a local or national level. As opposed to City Council meetings, which mostly revolve around localized administrative issues, these are intended to be open forums, with no particular agenda.
That said, as a result of the successful grass roots effort on the 15th, local concerned citizens are gathering again this weekend (The 25th of April at Lawrence Park from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon.
!! FBI PERSONNEL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND !!
!! COME ONE COME ALL !!
The meetings will be non-partisan, and are not backed by, nor endorsed by special interest groups, or business concerns.
This is a truly grass-roots effort to educate the public on current events, with opportunity for all viewpoints to be discussed on matters that are affecting us all. These are not intended to be public debates, but a means for citizens to gather together and voice their opinions in a peaceful manner, while espousing our Consitutional Rights of Free Speech and Assembly.
While not backed by special interest groups or political parties, a matter of course, anyone who wishes to disseminate information regarding the same is more than welcome to. It is encouraged that these be opened by a local pastor, revolving amongst the various local denominations, in order to kick these off with a short prayer for our
country and civility, keeping in mind that these are not intended to be religious revival meetings.
One topic that is already being considered for discussion and dissemination is the topic of the Federal Reserve System. While that is a topic of a national level, with concerns shared by citizens on a national level, localized concerns are also welcome topics of discussion.
Open mike will once again be made available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Corporate Taxes, and Their Real Impact On Small Business
" it isn’t really the corporation that pays the tax, but instead it is the shareholders, employees and customers who pay them through lower returns, lower wages and higher prices, respectively. "
How Obama Will Change American Capitalism
Who Pays for Climate Policy?
-In total, the annual burden from a cap-and-trade program would be $144.9 billion n American households, which would be about $1,218 per household.
-The analysis also shows that the burden of cap-and-trade would be disproportionately borne by low-income households because they tend to spend a larger fraction of their income on carbon-intensive products

Tea Parties Unhealthy?
Update - Hat tip to Instapundit.
A Rasmussen poll just released shows the Tea Parties were very well received by the public, with 51% having a favorable view versus 33% with an unfavorable view. Particularly interesting, 54% of mainstream Democrats viewed Tea Parties favorably.
Not surprisingly, only 13% of the political elites had a favorable view of the events.
Global Warming and Economic Freedom
The public is shifting its view on "global warming" according to a new Rasmussen Report. Currently 34% of those sampled believe human activity is the cause of "Global Warming", this is a significant decline from 47% a year ago.
Today 48% feel planetary trends are the root cause of "Global Warming", versus only 34% a year ago.
The "Global Warming" mantra is used by state and national politicians to push for broader and stronger regulations and taxation related to carbon energy.
As the "conclusive" evidence on climate change is increasingly criticized by the scientific community, it is silly to restructure the economy and reduce living standards until to evidence is conclusive that such a restructuring is critical to America's well being.
By creating highly invasive and complicated tax regimes related to carbon energy, politicians are again pursuing a massive power grab to gain further control of American's economic lives.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out if the public continues to demand harder scientific evidence to accept "Global Warming" as a man-made problem.
Ultimately, personal freedom is only possible through economic freedom.
